Dell Streak Phone

When I first held the Dell Streak in my hand, I really praised Dell for the build of this device.  It can be generally defined as a slim tablet, and the curves of the tablet feel pleasantly ergonomic in the hand.

- Comes with new STAGE interface (Dell Stage - www.dell.com/us/p/stage/pd.aspx)

Build Quality

When I first got the device, it was nice in the hand.  The battery cover was worrisome, as it was thin and looked like it could easily crack.  The battery snapped into place very nicely, but after a week, I started to doubt it's quality.  The outer-shell of the device was not durable, and scratched easily.  The white scratches. against the red background really stood out.  The battery cover's edges bended when I accidentally dropped it, and I had a hard time bending the edge back.  A huge suggestion to anyone who buys this device: A case is definitely needed.

Interface

The Dell Streak runs on Android 2.2 and is also a customized version of the Dell Stage.  The Dell Stage is simplistic, very easy to understand, and overall, my only complaint is that there are not enough Stages, like for books.  The Dell Stage sometimes lags between transitions and once even left me stuck there for a minute.

Camera

Only two words to utter my intense disappointment, "utterly bad".  The camera's focus is not even sharp, and the default camera's application failed.  Shots at night tend to be either too bright with the flash on, or too dark- even with the flash.

Bottom Line

The Dell Streak is definitely worth buying, and the tablet feels wonderful in the hand.  The only gripe, is that it has a slow interface, and a poor camera.  For those that own a Dell Streak, a customized UI of the Dell Stage can be found by google-ing DJ Steve StreakDroid 1.9 A.K.A The Final Frontier.
